Ajimi Privacy Policy
Effective date: November 4, 2026
In short
- No account, no ads, no analytics, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs.
- What you save in the app is stored only on your phone, with no cloud sync. We can't see it.
- Only when you tap an AI feature (after you agree once) is that content sent through our server to Anthropic's Claude, and the result comes back to your phone. Our server doesn't store it, and Anthropic doesn't train models on it.
- To count free uses and daily usage, our server keeps only a code derived from your App Store record that can't be traced back to you, plus the counts. Never your content.
- Your first 10 AI uses are free; after that, a one-time in-app purchase unlocks unlimited AI. No subscription.
Who we are and what we don't do
Ajimi is made by Nanologics. You don't need an account to use Ajimi. The app has no ads, analytics, crash-reporting tools or third-party SDKs, and it doesn't track you across other apps or websites. We don't sell, rent or share your personal information. Ajimi has AI features that use our server; the sections below explain exactly what is sent, who processes it and what is kept.
Where your data is stored
Ajimi stores the recipes you save (title, ingredients, steps, notes, tags, source address and author, the original photos you imported, the cover photo, a YouTube video ID with step times, favorites and your notes for next time), your shopping list and your settings. This data lives only on your iPhone. There's no iCloud sync, so we can't see it. Data on your iPhone is included in your own device backups (iCloud Backup or a computer backup), which are handled by Apple.
AI features: what is sent, and when
Ajimi sends content only when you import or translate with AI:
• Photo import: the recipe photos or screenshots you pick or take with the camera (up to 3), plus the note you add (if any).
• Pasted text: the recipe text you paste.
• Web page: the visible text of a page that has no standard recipe data, with its address and title.
• YouTube: when the description doesn't link to a recipe page, the video's title and description (including chapter times).
• Translate: the recipe, when you tap translate.
The request also carries your choice of whether to translate into your app language. Photos are resized on your phone before they're sent, with location and other camera details removed. Pages with standard recipe data, and videos whose description links to such a page, are organized on your phone and nothing is sent. Scaling, unit conversion, the shopping list, Cook With What I Have and allergen notes are all worked out on your phone, without AI. You check every AI-organized recipe before it's saved.
Before you use an AI feature for the first time, Ajimi shows what it will send and asks for your consent; if you don't agree, nothing is sent. Each time you use one, the content travels over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) to our server, which runs on Google Cloud Run in Google's Taiwan region (asia-east1). The server passes it to Anthropic's Claude API and sends the result back to your phone. Each request also carries the app's interface language and the App Store proof described below. Anthropic may process the content outside your country, for example in the United States.
What our server keeps
Our server uses your content only to answer that request and then discards it; it doesn't store your photos or text or write them to its logs. To keep the service working, it keeps only the following:
• A usage code. Each AI request includes the App Store's proof that your Apple Account got the app (an Apple-signed AppTransaction). After checking it, the server turns its transaction ID into a salted hash: a pseudonymous code that can't be traced back to your Apple Account or to you. Only two records are kept under that code: your usage for the day, used for the daily limit and deleted automatically after 2 days; and the number of free AI uses you've had, kept until one year after your last free use and then deleted automatically.
• Purchase proof. Once you've bought the unlock, the app also sends the Apple-signed transaction for that purchase so the server can confirm it. The server checks it and doesn't store it.
• Operational logs without content: which app and feature was used, token counts, cost, the result status and how long it took. We use them to keep costs in check and fix problems.
• Connection logs. As with any website, Google Cloud's request logs record the IP address and user agent (device and system version) of each connection. Google Cloud keeps these logs, and the operational logs above, for 30 days by default.
None of this is linked to your identity, used to track you, or sold to anyone.
How Anthropic (Claude) handles it
Anthropic, the company behind Claude, processes what we send under its commercial terms: it doesn't use it to train its models, and it keeps it only for a limited time to detect abuse and keep the service safe, then deletes it. For details, see Anthropic's privacy policy at https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy and its Privacy Center at https://privacy.anthropic.com.
Turning AI off
In Settings → AI & your data, turn off Allow AI features to withdraw your consent. Ajimi then sends nothing, and it asks you again before your next photo or text import. Importing pages with standard recipe data, your saved recipes, the shopping list and everything else keep working.
Permissions
Ajimi only asks for access when a feature needs it. Saying no won't affect anything else, and you can change your mind any time in the iPhone Settings app.
- Camera
- Used to photograph cookbook pages, handwritten recipes or the finished dish. Photos are used only to organize the recipe and as its cover; they're kept in Ajimi, not saved to your library. If you decline, you can still pick photos from your library, paste text or paste a link.
- Notifications
- Asked only the first time you start a cooking timer, so the timer can alert you even when Ajimi isn't on screen. The alert is scheduled on your phone and doesn't go through any server. If you decline, timers still work.
Other details
How web pages are read
When you share or paste a link, your phone downloads that page directly from the website, not through our server, so the site sees your IP address just as when you open it in a browser. Ajimi only opens public https sites and doesn't keep their cookies; it also downloads one image from the page as the cover. Ajimi doesn't read posts that need a login, such as Instagram or TikTok; import screenshots of them instead.
YouTube videos
Ajimi never downloads video or audio. When you import a video, your phone reads the title and description from the YouTube video page and downloads the thumbnail as the cover. When you open a recipe with a video, Ajimi loads YouTube's official embedded player (the IFrame Player API) inside the app to play it. The player is provided by YouTube (Google), which may collect data such as your IP address, viewing activity and cookies stored by the player, under Google's privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy. The recipe stores only the video ID and step times.
Share extension, Live Activity and Shortcuts
When you tap Share → Ajimi in another app, the link, text or up to 3 images are handed to Ajimi through an App Group container on your phone, and the import starts when you open Ajimi; nothing is sent anywhere else. Cooking timers appear as a Live Activity on the Lock Screen. You can also ask Siri to import a recipe, open your shopping list or find something to cook with Ajimi; what you say to Siri is handled by Apple under its privacy policy.
Allergen notes and other permissions
Allergen notes are based only on ingredient names, matched on your phone. They can miss things, are for reference only and don't replace checking for yourself. Ajimi doesn't provide nutrition data or diet advice. To pick photos it uses the iOS photo picker, so it only gets the photos you choose and doesn't need access to your library. Ajimi doesn't ask for access to the microphone, location, contacts or health data.
Purchases, free uses and information from Apple
Ajimi is free to download. Each Apple Account gets 10 free AI uses; after that, a one-time in-app purchase (non-consumable) unlocks unlimited AI, with no subscription. Features that don't use AI are always free. Purchases and refunds are handled by Apple; we never receive your payment details or Apple Account information. Apple gives developers anonymous, aggregated statistics (such as download counts), and if you've turned on “Share with App Developers” on your device, Apple may also share crash logs that don't identify you. Apple handles this information under its own privacy policy.
Deleting your data
You can delete any recipe in the app, and Settings has Delete all data, which removes your recipes, photos and shopping list. Deleting Ajimi deletes all of its data from your phone, including any cookies the YouTube player stored in Ajimi. Copies in your device backups are managed by Apple's backup features.
The usage code and counts on our server are deleted automatically on the schedule above. Because the code can't be traced back to you, we can't look up your records by name or email; if you have questions, email support@edgelingo.com. Deleting the app doesn't reset your free AI uses: that count belongs to your Apple Account, not to the phone.
Children's privacy
Ajimi is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you have any concerns, please email us.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the effective date above. If a change affects how your data is handled, we'll also mention it in the app's release notes.
